Saturday Stuff

Last night we finally had a "good" night of sleep! It was the first in several weeks. Emma Claire went down early at 6:30pm and woke at 2:30am and I nursed her for a few minutes and she was right back down until 6:30am. I was shocked! The night before was a disaster, I only got three hours of sleep. So to say I was thankful to get my beauty sleep would be an understatement! I went to bed early at 8:30pm so I was well rested today. When Emma Claire got up in the morning I nursed her and then we headed downstairs and let our favorite guy sleep in. I got her dressed for the day in a cute little outfit and let her play in her jump-a-roo.

While she played I had a super productive morning and was able to do dishes, clean the kitchen, deep clean our sink, do three loads of laundry, dust, and organize some decorations that won't be used until we move into our new house. I was beyond happy to get all of this done before 8am! After getting my "chores" done the hubs woke up and we loaded up Emma Claire and the pups and we went for a walk.
This picture is older (you can tell by the long hair Dixie is sporting hehe) but I had to get a picture that showed how Gracie takes walks...can you spot her?

This girl LOVES walks! :-) There were two garage sales in our neighborhood so we walked to those, we didn't find anything good which is always a bummer. So we just took a nice walk and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The dogs were happy as can be and EC ended up taking a nap.

Goofball. Gracie rides underneath the stroller, it cracks me up. She hops in there all on her own. She knows what she wants.

After our walk we took a drive, which is always a treat for the pups. Plus it gives Emma Claire some furry friends that are really exciting to look at in the back seat. After the hubs left for work, the little one and I headed to Target. Once we got back home I ate lunch and Emma Claire took a late afternoon nap. When she woke up we played for a bit and went to the park. After that it was dinner time. She had rice puffs for the first time tonight and her reaction to them cracked me up.

This picture is totally a false representation of how it went! HA!

Her pincer grasp just isn't quite there yet and she just kept smashing her hands on to them and then would stare at the ones that stuck to her fingers! She didn't even try to put them in her mouth.

I broke off small pieces for her and she made the funniest faces!

Once the puffs lost their appeal it was time for real dinner. I made a pear, apple, banana combo that she seems to like.

However I have  had a problem feeding her lately and need some advice..

I have THE hardest time getting her to open her mouth lately...although not in this picture! ha! Feeding her has become a battle. I think it might be from teething or me constantly messing with her mouth. Last night was just a total train wreck...she was COVERED in food by the time we finished. Tonight I just really took my time and didn't force the issue. I actually fed her by getting her to smile or open her mouth and then I would stick the spoon in real quick! If only you could've seen what I did to get her to eat! And the problem isn't getting her to eat and swallow. She has a great appetite and will swallow anything I put in her mouth, it's just getting her to OPEN her mouth that's the problem! I hope that once her teeth have popped through feeding will be easier. It wears me out to feed her!

Did anyone else have this issue???

After dinner it was bath time and then into bed she went. Today was a good day. I love days like today. Nothing super special happened, we didn't do anything extremely exciting, it was just a nice day.

I will leave you with a cute picture of the little miss hanging out on the patio. I took it yesterday and I just love her expression. Lately she has had the best time hanging out outside. I can't wait for summertime when the weather will be like this all the time!

Our Kate has always had the biggest appetite and almost always cries when she's finished eating. Even our pediatrician said to be careful because she seems to over-eat just because she enjoys food so much. With all that being said, the week before her 2 bottom teeth popped through, she basically lost her appetite for solids. So I just let her have more in her bottle for that week. Our normal meal schedule is that she gets about 4 oz of baby food (equivalent of 1 jar of baby food) and then she gets a 4-5 oz bottle. So for that week I'd just offer her pureed foods but if she turned them down, I'd just bump up her bottle and let her have an 8 oz bottle instead. Not sure if that helps you at all, but it worked for us!

we have bouts with Georgia not wanting to open her mouth either. when she was EC's age I would just open my mouth and say, "ahh" and usually she would copy me a few times so I could sneak the spoon in there. Now that we're battling molars I turn the tv on and she usually will watch it for a few minutes off and on so I can shove some food in there. I just think you and I have girls that really like to assert their independence...it's just their personality and probably always will be!

What a fun/productive day!!

Olivia had that problem in the beginning but eventually just learned. Maybe try putting a tiny bit of food on her bottom lip to lick and se if she opens her mouth for more? Maybe she has lost interest for the time being? I'd ask your pedi for suggestions!! When we had problems with Olivia moving up on her bottle our pedi said some babies get lazy, maybe it could have something to do with that?

I am so impressed with everything you got done before 8:00 am. I have so much I need to by doing RIGHT NOW but I'm on the computer instead. :) I love that Gracie rides in the bottom of the stroller. So cute! I don't have any advice about the food thing. E only does that when she doesn't want any more!

I think its pretty normal for this age... hang in there... one day at a time, by next week she will be a pro! and then do it again, and then back again.

those kids, always have us guessing!

Preston has started this a bit too. I do the airplane and funny things with the spoon so he'll follow it. He opens his mouth with a lot of excitement when I do that.

Just something to try :)

Wow, girl! You got so much accomplished!! I LOVE that feeling too. Although, I am never as productive by that time! ;)

So we haven't been eating "real food" for a while so I don't have much advice...but I just say "ahhh" and open my mouth which usually gets Adeline to open hers. I also let her "kiss" the spoon to get a bit on her mouth and then she seems to get re-interested and opens back up. Hope this helps!

Love all those pictures...so cute!

Your puppy is so cute how he curls up underneath the stroller for a ride. That is hilarious! I love that big bow on EC--so so cute! :) Sorry I don't have any advice on the eating--I will just say a prayer it gets better for you! :)

My goodness, she must have REALLY played like a good little girl to have given you enough time to get all that done! Jealous! ;)

Have you ever tried putting her in the big part of the stroller? (Not the carseat?) We started putting our little guy in it around 5 months (maybe sooner!) and he loves it! Thinks he's big stuff. ;) I think it is easier for him to look around, too.

Even though my little guy is older than EC, we haven't started full blown teething yet so we haven't had the eating issue. I bet it is her teeth though. If she won't open...I would probably not force the issue and just let her be on a "liquid" diet for a bit. ;)

Have you tried teething tablets? They are all natural and dissolve in their mouth. They have always worked wonders for us!

She's getting most of her nutrition from breast milk, so don't beat yourself up if she doesn't open her mouth right now. Once her teeth cut through she'll be a new baby. G has 2 teeth and he's happy as can be!
