Creative Future Hubster

Today over at Kelly's Korner she's hosting "Show Us Your Life Friday" and this weeks theme is "show us what you make". As you all know I don't "make" anything, but I do fix up furniture ;-) However, this post isn't about what I do...this post is dedicated to the Future Hubster's creativity! I had no idea when we first started dating that he was so creative! Recently he began making lamps out bottles. He has used wine bottles, whisky bottles, and my favorite is an antique whisky jug that's in my dining room. I have an obsession with lamps, another sign that God chose the right man for me ;-) Here are a few of his lamps. I just LOVE them!

This one is in my kitchen! It's just perfect for the little corner I have it in.

This antique whisky jug lamp is my favorite! It's in my dining room now, in the future I want this one in my kitchen!

This one is the Future Hubsters favorite, very manly!

Future Hubster is one of the most prepared people I know. He is always planning for our future and constantly adds to our survival supplies. If anything catastrophic ever happened, I would be well taken care of. This is one of the big things I love about this man :-) Anyways, all of that being said...the Future Hubster loves to make bracelets out of paracord! In case of an emergency these would be taken apart and could be used to aid in survival. Each bracelet has about 8 ft. of paracord in it.

Here is one on Future Hubster's arm! He made this one today and just learned how to make a two toned bracelet.

Here are a bunch of the bracelets! He actually made all of these today!

I am just so impressed with my honey!!! He's so talented! :-)

Do any of your fiances/husbands make anything?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Hello everyone!!! :-) I hope you are all having a great week so far, I sure am. There's a lot that I'm loving this Wednesday....to link up click HERE

{One}
Generous Retired Teachers

While I was eating lunch with my team on Monday a retired teacher came into the teachers lounge. She taught kindergarten for many years and just recently retired. It turns out that she was visiting the school to donate some of her books. I had no clue that she would've donated as many as she did. I was shocked when I went into the book room, there were hundreds of books! She was so sweet and gave me permission to look through them and take some home! I got a bunch of books and I know that my future students will love them! Here's a picture of all of the books I've accumulated thus far in my life...I just sorted and organized ALL of them!!!

I just love books...I think I might be a book-a-holic ;-)

{Two}
Middle of the Week Treats

Today for lunch my mentor teacher had a local resturant deliver our lunch to the school! We got pizza from Rosati's! It was just the perfect middle of the week treat :-)

{Three}
Girl Scout Cookies

I have a box of Girl Scout cookies that I have been enjoying this week! They're actually my best friend Paige's cookies...So Paige, I owe you a box of Girl Scout Cookies. :-)

{Four}
My blog award from Emily

Emily over at Live a Charmed Life gave me a blog award! I was so excited!!! Thank you Emily!!! It made my day :-)

{Five}
The Future Hubster

As always, it wouldn't be a What I'm Loving Wednesday without a little love for the Future Hubster! I am just so thankful that I get to spend my life with him. He is currently waiting to hear from his dream job, and is working hard at a job that he doesn't love. Prayers are welcomed for him to hear about this job soon. He applied for the job over a year ago and is still waiting to hear, it's been a long and tiring process. He amazes me with his good attitude about the whole situation.

Southern Boys Love Their Toys

Future Hubster is a true southern gentleman down to his core, from his love of sweet tea and fried okra to his obsession with hunting...and let me tell you, the boy loves his firearms :-) To be honest y'all, I've never ever liked guns. Growing up, my family never owned guns or had anything to do with them. However, the Future Hubster has made me see that with the proper precautions and the correct training, firearms aren't quite as scary as I had always believed. Don't get me wrong...I'm still not a huge fan and I prefer them locked away in a gun case :-) Although I've had many gun-saftey lessons over the past two years and have been to the shooting range with Future Hubster I had never actually shot a gun. Well folks, today was the day. I went with Future Hubster, one of his brothers, and a friend of ours to shoot skeet at the local skeet shooting range.

Future Hubster is a wonderful teacher...I was SO SCARED! Since I was shooting with a shotgun I knew there would be some kick after the shot and I was pretty scared of that!

So I was right to be afraid of the kickback...it HURT!!! I am laughing here out of pure shock! Although I did shoot the gun and I almost hit my target. Ha! I think this was a one time thing for me! And no, I am not getting paid by Job Link for an advertisment! ;-)

This girl rocked at skeet shooting! I was so impressed!!! She was also much braver than I was and hit half of her targets! Go Laurie!! :-)

Here's the Future Brother-in-Law :-) Great shot, Daniel!

I picked a keeper :-)

As fun as today was, I think I'll stick to watching the shooting from now on. I'll pick up a glass of sweet tea over a shooting range any day ;-) Oh, and don't forget the fried okra!

"Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, that you may be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm." Ephesians 6:11-13

Love is in the Air!

I just love February! Hearts, candy, flowers, cute crafts, and don't forget about Presidents Day ;-) ! What's not to love? I have some cute Valentines Day decorations that I have up at home right now, they just make me happy.

I got this in the dollar section at Target! It says "XOXO, KISS, HUGS, and LOVE"

Gotta love the holiday kitchen towels ;-) These are the first decorations I put up for each holiday! Some people feel that Valentines Day is a holiday that is pushed upon us as a society in order to make us buy the cards, candy, flowers and decorations. Personally I feel that it's important to have a day to recognize the ones you love. Not that you shouldn't do that every day regardless of a "holiday" ;-) In my class today we made some very cute Valentines Day crafts! We made "heart people" out of hearts, they're just precious!
I think it's too cute when my sweet little boys draw hearts for eyes! One of them was cracking up today as he drew, and when I asked him what was so funny he held his heart up for me to see. It had a heart eyes, nose, and hearts all over the mouth. Apparently hearts are hilarious now-a-days!

Here's my heart! I'm not much of an artist, but it was fun to do a craft with my kids today! After having a highly stressful day yesterday it was nice to have a relaxed day with my class today. Due to the yucky weather that the south is getting hit with a lot of little ones were out today. The roads were slick and icy this morning and some parents chose not to send their kids to school. So today was a great day to review what we've been learning so far this week!

I am going to take a few minutes to brag on the wonderful...the talented...the sweet and caring, Future Hubster :-) He is always amazing, but some days he simply outdoes himself. Today, due to the yucky weather, he didn't have work. So what does he do? Sit around all day and watch TV? NOPE. Play computer games? NOPE. Catch up on sleep? NOPE. This amazing man worked all day to bake chocolate truffles AND cook dinner for me! Talk about a CATCH! Since the weather was bad today he took me to school this morning, and when he came to pick me up he brought truffles for all of the first grade teachers! He even let me drag him from room to room and introduce him to everyone :-) For dinner he made the most amazing taco soup! I am so impressed and I couldn't ask for a better person to spend my life with.

HOMEMADE TRUFFLES. It does not get better than this. God truly does have someone in mind for everyone ;-)

Best. Soup. Ever.

All in all, today was a great day and I am feeling much better about the rest of the week than I was at this time yesterday. Granted, there's a high possibility that the chocolate helped me feel better ;-) Future Hubster knows just what I need in the middle of a hard week. I will leave you with this calming verse tonight...

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.  And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:6-7

Winter Wonderland

"The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event.  You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?" J.B. Priestley

As I went to bed last night the snow was beginning to fall and I couldn't wait to wake up and look out my window. Waking up to a world of white is an experience that never gets old! I was like a little kid again!!! Living in the south, any frozen precipitation is likely to cause a frenazy...this one sure did. I was up at 5:30am on a NON school day for me, just to peek at the yard and see how much it snowed. Naturally the puppies were up with me, so we went outside to explore!

The puppies had no idea what was coming...

They were very interested!

Dixie in the snow for the first time! Don't worry...I'll have more pictures of the puppies playing later... ;-)

Future hubster and I went out for an early morning drive before anyone was out on the roads. This was so fun, it's nice to be the only ones out on the roads...and much safer too!

My school is so pretty when it snows :-)

Future Hubster and I on "our" swing on campus.
We sat and talked on this swing for hours after our first date, and this is also the spot where we sat and talked right before he proposed. It's a very special place to us. So naturally we go there to take pictures in the snow!

It was so fun to get an "official" snow day!
I don't technically have class anymore because I'm an education major and I teach all week. However because I don't go to my school on Fridays I have seminar on campus, and it was fun to have that canceled!

They will run and not grow weary...

Hello everyone, it's been a long time! I've been so busy with teaching, lesson planning, running and life in general. Not to mention fighting off some nasty First Grade germs...which I imagine look something like this....

Thankfully I am feeling SO much better now!

Each day I have fallen more and more in love with my First Grade class, not their yucky little germs though! They are precious and I literally spend all day laughing at their funny personalities. This age is just such a sweet time, they're constantly hugging me and drawing me picutres. Today I even had a little boy complete a groundhogs day word search and when he was done he said, "I made this for you!". He even used his gel pens, just for me I'm sure ;-) In case you weren't aware, gel pens are THE big thing to have in First Grade.

While I was battling my nasty sick germs I ran another Half Marathon! My friend Jamie ran with me, although she finished much quicker than my sickey self. It was her first half and I'm so proud of her!!!

Here we are before the race! :-)

Jamie running!

Three words that sum up this race...heat, humidity, and HILLS!

Here I am crossing the finish line...my face is super excited because my wonderful parents surprised me and came down to watch me finish!!! :-) I have the best parents, I just love them!!!

How cute are they? I was so happy to see them after that long run!

My beautiful "congratulations presents" from the future hubster! He's so sweet and supportive. I am so lucky!

"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
