What I'm Loving Wednesday

Hello everyone! :-) I hope you're all having a great week so far! I know mine has been busy! I can't believe my last semester is coming to a close so quickly...after tomorrow I will only have TEN school days left with my sweet first grade darlings! I am going to miss their sweet faces and funny personalities. So to start off today's "What I'm Loving Wednesday"....

{Link up HERE!}

{One}
First Grade

I'm LOVING that I got to spend an entire semester with the sweetest first graders! I wish I could share a picture of their sweet faces with you, but for confidentiality reasons I'm not going to. Just picture 18 of the cutest children alive, and you've got my class! :-)

{Two}
American Idol

I love that Wednesdays mean American Idol...and I LOVE this season more than I ever thought I would!!! Do any of you feel the same?! I thought that it would never be as good as it was with the old judges, but I just love the performers AND the judges this year.

{Three}
Jamba Juice

I got Jamba after school as a little treat, it was the perfect "after school snack"!

{Four}
Pedicures

After Jamba I treated myself to a pedicure! It was much needed and so nice to relax for a little while! Sadly, I don't have a picture of my freshly painted toes, but they're a fun springy PINK! :-)

{Five}
A clean house!

I don't have photographic evidence for this one...I haven't broken out the camera, but trust me...it's clean! I had a VERY RARE burst of energy after school today, hmm maybe the Jamba? :-) Anyways, I came home and cleaned the kitchen, bathrooms, picked all of the miscellaneous "junk" up and put it away, cleaned the floors, and even did some laundry. Let me tell you folks...the fact that this happened on a week day is a big feat! I even managed to cook dinner for the future hubster and I!

{Six}
My Evil Dogs

Yes they're cute. Yes they're evil. It just happens that that's how dog's are. Those of you out there who have furry children know what I'm talking about. :-) With all of the trees blooming around the backyard the little low rider, aka Gracie, tracks in about a pound of tree junk each time she comes inside...it's exhausting cleaning up after her. I think a grooming appointment is in her VERY near future. Goodbye long flowing locks and HELLO summer haircut!!! :-) Gracie has also decided that while I'm getting ready for school in the morning is the PERFECT time for her to leave me special presents....I've gotten poopie AND throw-up in the past two days, how lucky am I?!

Disclaimer: This sweetie hasn't really been that evil lately...most of the "evil" title goes to sister. Sorry Dixie, blame your sister for the bad representation you're getting.

Today was a great Wednesday, I am looking forward to tomorrow because it's my "Friday"! I don't have class Friday and don't have to be at my schools Monday OR Tuesday so I get a FIVE day weekend!!! I'd say THAT is something to look forward to!!! I hope you all have a wonderful week!

"Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Happy Friday and Future Plans

Hi everyone! I feel like this week was the longest week ever, and at the same time I can't believe that March is almost over already! I am loving the great spring weather that we're having now! I can't wait to go shopping and get some new spring clothes! :-) This week was pretty uneventful and I didn't get much done furniture/project wise... :-( I am hoping to remedy that this weekend!!! This post is going to be a random assortment of reasons that I am having a great Friday!

Today for lunch I got to go to one of my favorite places for lunch...
Rudys!!! :-)

Spring has FINALLY arrived!
Baylor is always beautiful in the Spring, and it's no different this year!

I am thankful to be so close to graduation and finally have a PLAN!!! Future Hubster got his DREAM JOB after waiting for almost 15 months to hear. So, after graduation we will be moving to Virginia!

I'm going to be close to so many neat places...

The White House!

Mt. Vernon

And let's not forget, all of the MUSEUMS in Washington, D.C.! :-)

I am so excited to start this new chapter in my life! I am so excited to get to live in an area that is full of so much culture and history!

"Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submit to him and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

Help Needed!

Hi y'all! I need your help! I got this little beauty at a flea market a couple of weeks ago and I still haven't figured out what to do with it!

 It's in really good condition and appears to be from the 1930's.

This is so rare for me to not be inspired immediately after buying a piece of furniture! I knew I had to have it when I saw it, but I just can't tell what color to paint it. I have toyed with the idea of a white or cream but just haven't felt like that's the look I'm going for....any ideas out there?

Help is much appreciated!!! :-)

Happy Spring!

Today is the first day of spring and I could not be more excited!!! :-) I have missed blogging lately, with school and teaching I have just gotten super busy! Today I am going to share with you some pictures of my little indoor garden from last spring!

I planted a little herb garden with Basil, Cilantro, Parsley and Rosemary. I had this little window box in my kitchen! I can't wait to do another one this year!

This is the last picture I have of my little herb window garden, but basil got really big and I was able to cook with it, as did cilantro! :-)

I also planted two tulips and a daffodil, my favorite flowers! These were beautiful and lasted for a long time!

I am now inspired to plant my little garden again! I can't wait until I have a backyard and can have a real garden! :-)

"Build houses and settle down; plant gardens and eat what they produce." Jeremiah 29:5

Barn Birthday Fun!

Kelly, over at Kelly's Korner, is hosting Show Us Your Life Friday: Show us Your Kid's Birthday Parties! Well I don't have any kiddo's of my own but I do know of a GREAT place to have little kids parties if you are in the DFW area! My Aunt, Doreen Bruton, owns Ride With Pride, Inc. Horsemanship School in Southlake, Texas. Ride With Pride has horseback riding lessons for kids and adults, summer camp for kids, a special buckaroo camp for the little ones, and they host BIRTHDAY PARTIES!

The view of the riding arena from the pond.

You can visit their website HERE to find out more information about Ride With Pride, but here's a quick synopsis...Ride With Pride has been open for 31 years and provides children with a unique opportunity to participate in farm life right in the middle of a big city. I have been lucky enough over the years to take lessons, go to summer camp, and attend parties here. I have also worked at Ride With Pride for the past seven years, all through High School and during the summers while I've been away at college. I have worked many birthday parties and let me tell you, the kids LOVE IT! I mean what little kid wouldn't love getting to have their birthday at a barn and having pony rides at their party? It's a unique party that's unlike anything else!

If this isn't a picturesque backdrop for a pretty pink party...I don't know what is! :-)

After the pony rides, the kiddo's get to head up to the porch to continue the festivities!

My Aunt was recently featured on the WFAA Good Morning Texas where she spoke about her Buckaroo Camps which are GREAT for the little ones! :-) CLICK HERE to watch the clip! I HIGHLY recommend Ride With Pride for all of your child's entertainment needs. Whether it's summer camp, horseback riding lessons, or a birthday party they will have a blast! I truly feel that kids these days play their video games too often and don't get outside enough. Ride With Pride allows kids to put down the video games, pick up the reins and hop in the saddle to experience something that will change their lives forever. At Ride With Pride, kid's don't just learn how to ride a horse, they learn much more.

If those aren't great reasons for your child to go to Ride With Pride, I don't know what are!  If you're visiting from Kelly's Korner, thanks for stopping by! I hope that some of you from the DFW area will go by and visit Ride With Pride, it's an amazing place! :-)

So don't stress out about your next party...
go to RIDE WITH PRIDE!

Unexpected Treasures

Last weekend the Future Hubster and I ventured to the stockyards in Fort Worth to watch my Dad run his first full marathon. As we were pulling into the parking lot I saw this sign...

I thought to myself, "Now this is my kind of marathon!" It turns out that they have this flea market each weekend at the stockyards! I just know that Future Hubster was as thrilled as I was ;-) He was a trooper and went with me as we explored the flea market. He even got the camera and took a few pictures while I was browsing!

Right as we were walking out the door I found this booth...it was completly full of different fabric! I ended up getting several different toile patterns! I spent $11 and got about 6 yards of fabric! Here are two of the toile patterns I got.

To the left is a pale blue and brown and the fabric on the right is a cream and brown toile. I just love both of these. Do I have any idea what I'm doing with these? Nope! I'm sure I'll find something! :-)

Now for the real reason I was at the stockyards...my Dad's marathon!!!
I'm so proud of him! Here he is finishing!

He makes 26.2 miles look easy!

Way to go Dad! :-)

The moral to my story is...always keep your eyes peeled for great deals! You never know where they might pop up!

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. Therefore, strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees.” Hebrews 12:11-13

From Striped and Yellow to Calm and Mellow

Words cannot describe just how busy the week before spring break is in 1st grade! I was full teaching in my classroom and there was SO MUCH that needed to be done before Friday, PLUS I had to attend the job fair at Baylor on Tuesday! Whew...I feel like I just got done running a marathon! Due to the crazy week I had I didn't make ANY progress on my many projects! So I've decided to share my bathroom remodel that was completed this past summer! This was the first big project that the future hubster and I worked on together, he was such a trooper! Here are a few before pictures of the bathroom!

{BEFORE}
Ya'll all know that I LOVE yellow...BUT this wallpaper made the room have a very yellow glow...and it was peeling off in several places. Time to intervene!!!

{BEFORE}
Yes...that is a PLAIN white shower curtain...as in the one that's supposed to be BEHIND the real one...very classy ;-)

Here's the Future Hubster mid-wallpaper teardown...it was a painstaking process as those of you who have removed wallpaper know! Once he had the wallpaper removed Future Hubster went above and beyond and textured the walls! He is so talented! We painted the walls a light blue, I'm not sure of the exact color but I still have it if anyone loves it and wants to know the name of the color!

{AFTER}
The textured wall, he did such a great job! I think I found a keeper, ya'll!

{AFTER}
The new shelf that we hung, along with the "Relax" wall hanging! And the wall isn't that much of an electric blue! It just looks that way in the picture.

{AFTER}
Sink area with a new lamp!

{AFTER}
Yes folks..that's a REAL shower curtain! :-)

Well that's all folks, thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my bathroom remodel as much as I do! I'm glad to be back in the blogging world...after being gone for almost a week there's a lot I have to talk about, and a lot of blogs I have to catch up on!
