Weekend Rewind

Happy Monday everyone! I guess it's not technically "happy" for most, but as you know today is our FRIDAY! If you're visiting from Tami's blog then welcome! Our actual "weekend" isn't until Tuesday/Wednesday. My husband is in law enforcement and has odd hours/days off. We make the most of it and still try to have fun on the true weekend! Here's our weekend rewind!

Link up with us {HERE} and tell us about YOUR weekend!

Saturday I did a bunch of cleaning, since I already blogged about it I won't repeat myself!

Saturday we also did our grocery shopping. We went to Costco and wal-mart...it wore Miss Emma Claire O-U-T!

LOVE Costco...HATE putting everything away and finding space for it all!

I made and froze a bunch of baby food for the first time! Until now I would just prepare it fresh right before dinnertime. I made a huge batch of apple baby food and I have a large bag of pears that I'm waiting to ripen and then I'm going to make those too! I love the ice cube trays I bought because they are all one ounce cubes! SO now I have a huge freezer bag full of one ounce cubes of apple baby food. Perfect to eat alone or combine with other foods!

In case you can't tell I also joined Instagram this weekend! haha! I don't know why it took me SO LONG to jump on the bandwagon but so far I love it! Follow me: MallorieGayle

We aren't moving yet...BUT that doesn't mean I can't start packing. We know we are moving at some point this summer so I figured I could start packing things we don't need now! Moving with a 7, 8, or 9 month old will be challenging enough I don't need to make packing any harder! I hope to have lots done by the time we actually get our house and make the big move.

Yesterday was a beautiful day outside.

Everyone at my house likes to look out the window. And I cannot get over that sweet little baby hand just resting on Gracie's furry rear. So sweet.

Since the weather was so nice we ventured out and took a walk. It was Emma Claire's first time to ride up front like a "big girl". She was NOT a fan. After we played and had our photo-shoot she was NOT happy and wanted nothing to do with the front of the stroller. I ended up carrying her half-way home.

Don't be fooled by her happy face here...this is a false representation of how the actual walk was! ha!

The product of our little photo-shoot yesterday. I cannot believe she is just ONE day away from being SIX months old! Seriously?! Wasn't I just pregnant yesterday??

We tried some shots of her sitting in the grass and she HATED it. If y'all read Lyndsey's blog then you know that I immediately thought of her and Liam when I was taking these! ha! Our babies do NOT like the grass!

Last night we had another first at our house. Emma Claire finally rolled onto her tummy and fell asleep. I was a nervous wreck and even went in a few times to move her head when she was sleeping on her face. I was never that mom who checked on her baby a million times at night..until last night. I could not go to sleep and went in her room three times to check on her! I didn't have to worry too much, she was up at 3am and was not happy! So much for tummy sleeping=better night sleep!

How was your weekend? Link up with Tami at Little Moments Like This and let us know!

Scrub-A-Dub Saturday

Today I did some good ol' fashioned cleaning.

If you've never had a gas stove then you have no clue just how dirty they can get. I had no idea until we moved out here and I inherited a gas stove top. Cooking with one is just downright messy. The gas emitted accumulates overtime and creates a really grimy surface. I have tried everything to clean the stove but nothing has really worked. So today I tried a more natural approach, baking soda and white vinegar. Simple and effective.

First I cleaned the grates in the sink. I sprayed them down with a solution of equal parts water and vinegar and then sprinkled on baking soda. I let that work it's magic and got to work on the stove. I sprayed the stove down with the same water/vinegar combo then sprinkled it with baking soda. It's just gross what you could see coming up already. I let that sit for a few minutes and then began scrubbing away.

Well I think it's safe to say that it did it's job. Although you can see some of the grime just Would. Not. Come. Up. I scrubbed and scrubbed but some of that residue is just there to stay. I am so pleased with the result and I don't know why I didn't try this before. I am going to add this to my cleaning schedule and try and do this once a week. I do clean off the stove each day when I clean the kitchen, but it needs a good deep scrub at least once a week.

Up next was the refrigerator...It was a DISASTER. So I emptied it out, discarded old items, cleaned it, and then put everything back in.

I love being able to actually SEE everything I have inside the refrigerator! I can't believe I am showing you the before and I am so ashamed that it got so messy.

Emma Claire is SO happy that the stove and fridge are both super clean now.

There is nothing better than a good, deep clean! If only my whole house was deep cleaned, I'd be one happy Momma!

What We've Been Up To Lately

Here's just a random little update on what we've been up to the past few days!
We'll start with this little gem...I was putting away some of my Dr. Pepper cans yesterday when one jumped from my hands. It spewed ALL the way to the couch...this was the kind of mess that I just had to take a picture of before cleaning up. Don't worry it came right up out of the carpet.

Someone has been L-O-V-I-N-G her new high chair. And remember that baby who wouldn't eat?! Well she is long gone! She has been gobbling up her food lately!

Someone is a budding botanist.

See our little tiny tomato?!

Emma Claire fell asleep like this yesterday morning. Rock on sweet baby.

Yesterday we skyped with my mom and Scotty! I've talked about Scotty before on here but I'm going to say this again...if you need a good read then you have to read his Mom's blog, Sandbox Moments. It is touching, well written, will put a smile on your face, and warm your heart. Seriously, go read.

Two days ago the hubs made homemade bread AND homemade barbecue sauce. YUM!

We went on a walk today! It was pretty brisk but we didn't mind.

I just love how green our neighborhood is! And I am LOVING all of the beautiful flowers that are in bloom now.

HA! This just cracks me up.  They are literally the same exact size.

This morning I made muffins AND bacon...and did laundry, and cleaned, and played with Emma Claire so the Hubs could sleep in, we had a busy morning!

HA! I just love her face, "um mom...I think you've taken enough pictures today. Dry me off and let's get this show on the road."

I think I love writing random posts so much because they are my favorite to read. I love peeking inside other people's lives, and I feel that this is the best representation of our life as it is right now. I know years from now I will love reading these posts and reliving the little details of our life that made it OURS.

Happy Friday Y'all!

Jenny From The Block

There is just something about the Jenny Lind style of craftsmanship that makes my heart skip a beat. I love the simple details, sturdy construction, and classic design.

I started searching for a Jenny Lind high chair this past summer when I was pregnant. My Mom and I scoured craigslist, yard sales, eBay, consignment stores and estate sales. We searched in Texas AND Virginia with absolutely no luck. Then two weeks ago my Mom called me and was so excited because she had FOUND ONE! She decided on a whim to search eBay and there it was. A Jenny Lind high chair for sale. Surprisingly they were willing to ship it, and 5 minutes later it was mine! I was giddy!

Yesterday it arrived on our doorstep! After scrubbing the entire thing down and disinfecting it thoroughly I let Emma Claire try it out. She LOVED it!

We are thrilled with our new high chair! After we move I plan on painting it. I'm torn between white and hot pink. Yes, hot pink may not flow with the color scheme I'm considering in a new house...but EC will only be a baby girl for a little while so why not embrace it? I can always paint it another color later.

Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Y'all!

Here are some things I am loving today!

My sweet little monkey...

Her new favorite thing to do is hang upside down. This picture cracks me up each time I look at it. Something about her hands, her hair, and her overall expression. Love.

CRAZY hair!

Can you guess who dressed her yesterday? hehe

She didn't seem to mind though. I took this while we were at Lowe's yesterday. Someone loves home improvement.

After she finished her dinner she immediately started chomping on her toe. I don't think dinner was filling enough for her ;-)

Look what we picked!

They are kind of small but we had to pick them because we noticed that if they got any bigger than this they started to mold. Weird!

If you follow me on twitter you know that I refused to cook dinner last night. I let the hubs come up with whatever he wanted. I was really impressed with the dinner he came up with on short notice! Grilled tilapia with fresh peach salsa, rice, and black beans that he fixed up. It was all SO tasty! I was so grateful to not have to think about dinner!
