Nursery Rocking Chair

I've been planning to share all of my nursery project before and afters since I started working on the nursery. I'm going to share the rocking chair makeover first. I got this chair at our flea market in Waco last spring before I was even pregnant. It was only $15 and I had to have it, even though I didn't know what I was going to do with it. Isn't it funny how some things work out ;-) You can read my original post about it HERE.

Here's the before...

And after...

I just love the way it turned out! The curves make it so girly and whimsical. I got the fabric at Joanne's fabric back in Texas. My Mom helped me paint the chair and re-cover the seats and my Dad screwed the seats into the chair. Originally the seats were glued down, not very secure. I love that my parents helped me finish this chair and it's now in Emma Claire's nursery :-)

Stay tuned for more nursery project before and afters!

Nursery Reveal

I know what you're thinking..."It's about time!!!" :-) I am so excited to finally share Emma Claire's sweet little nursery with you! I took about a million and one pictures trying to make sure I covered everything. {aka picture HEAVY post...you've been warned!} I love how the final product turned out and it was worth all of the hard work! The only thing that would make this room cuter is an adorable baby in it! Soon enough... ;-)

I love that this is what I see now when I come up the stairs

This is what you see when you first step in the door! I wanted you to get a feel for the layout since the room is pretty tiny!

I am in love with her crib.

The decorations above her crib. We wanted it to be simple, so we went with her monogram and above is a little plaque that reads, "Miracle. The nearest thing to Heaven is the miracle of a child."

Her little stuffed friends, the lamb is from Uncle Marcus and the bunny was mine when I was a baby :-)

These frames are hanging on the wall next to her crib. For now they have her cute little sonogram pictures in them!

I cannot believe how well the dresser turned out after all I went through with it! It is absolutely perfect.

The curves are so dramatic now that the dresser is white!

Her dresser decorations! The frame has a picture of the Hubster and his parents in it!

The room wouldn't be complete without "B is for Baylor" on display! The frame up on the shelf has a picture of me with my parents in it! All Grandparents are accounted for in the nursery!

This was my bear when I was a little girl. He was obviously well loved, he has lost an eye and his arm has been sewed back together many times.

I can't wait to rock my sweet little girl in this corner.

Nothing sweeter than a baby dress :-) Especially a yellow polka dotted one! I'm hoping this will be her Easter dress!

Her chalkboard...now complete with her monogram at the bottom!

I am obsessed with her monogram!

I can't wait to put her little feet and hand prints in here!

I'm not sure she has enough bows ;-)

Her closet! I only hung up her "outfits"...all onesies, PJ's, pants, and gowns have been folded and put in her dresser! The child has SO. MANY. OUTFITS. :-) Thank you to everyone who contributed to her wardrobe!

Her drawer with all of her newborn clothes, they're just SO TINY! I love it!

All of her PJ's!

I hope you enjoyed the tour of our little miracle's room! We just can't wait for her to make her grand entrance!

Name Game

A while back I posted about our journey to finding the perfect name for our sweet little girl. {You can read about that HEREWell I just realized I never announced what we decided to do! We have made the decision that her name will be...

Emma Claire Elizabeth

Emma Claire will be her "official" first name, with Elizabeth as her middle name! Due to privacy and security issues I'm not sharing our last name but I will give you the initial! Because what good is a baby name post without showing off her monogram!!! ;-)

The Hubster picked Elizabeth as her middle name, and I like the flow of the whole name. Yes, it is a big name but I'm pretty sure she'll be able to handle it! ;-) I'm excited about our decision and hope that having Emma Claire as her first name when we register her for school will cut down on any confusion. I know with double names there will always be people who don't get it and that's okay! Thank you to everyone for all of your suggestions and input! We really appreciate it!

In other baby news...the nursery is getting SO CLOSE! We only have a few things left to do...

- Hang Curtains
- Put up shelf and a few more items on the wall
- Paint bookshelves
- Hang bookshelves

THAT'S IT! I cannot wait for it all to be done! I'm so excited! And I'm even more excited to share the room with you all!

It's Okay...and a little Nursery Peek!

So I figure it's okay if one side of my kitchen looks like this...

And the other side looks like this...

And it's okay if most of my new fall decor is here...waiting to be put up. Since the rest of my decorations are still in storage containers in the garage ;-)

It's okay that my dogs had TWO..count 'em..TWO accidents today. One had a #1 accident and the other thought it was a great idea so she decided to pee right behind me while I was working in the baby's room. Can I mention right now that my dogs NEVER have accidents, and we had JUST been outside...

Luckily I am prepared to handle dog messes thanks to my Mother :-) She made sure I had all of the essential cleaning supplies while she was here.

All of that is okay because today several WONDERFUL things happened...

My Scentsy order arrived!!!

How can this not make a girl happy?!

Drum roll please....

Today we also put her crib bedding together!

I could  not love her bedding MORE! :-)

And you might be wondering about the bows...well this is what they looked like BEFORE I got a hold of them...

Ummm yeah. I was NOT a fan. The strings weren't long enough and all of the bows ended up looking very sad. So I took some extra hair bows and attached them on top! I only had 4 extra pink so I'll be making more tomorrow to attach to all of these sad little bows.

I know it's a super small, simple detail, but I just LOVE this look so much better!!!

Also here's a fun teaser...

I finished the chandelier today as well! I decided that it deserves it's own post...but until then here's a little sneak peek ;-)

LOVE.

Hanging Chalkboard

So I literally JUST finished this little project for Emma Claire's room and I was DYING to show y'all!!! :-) It turned out better than I expected! I'm going to hang this on the outside of her door, and seeing as it's a chalkboard little notes can be written on it! I also just ordered a monogram decal on etsy that is going to go at the bottom where the "After" is. I can't wait to see how that will look when I add it!

I am in LOVE with the end result!!! And it was SUPER easy! Gotta love easy DIY projects :-)

Another great part...it was only $3.20! Thank you Hobby Lobby clearance section! You never know what you'll find!

The Bigger The Bow...

So as most of you know I went bow crazy this summer making more bows for Emma Claire than she will probably ever need. :-) But you know what they say...

HA! Totally kidding...sort of ;-)

Anyways....after creating quite the bow collection for my little munchkin I knew I needed a way to store them. First I looked around to buy one and then I decided that I could just MAKE one, I did make the bows after all ;-) I decided that I wanted something that would be cute and practical, so I decided to re-purpose an old frame. Luckily my mom had the perfect one!

This frame was the perfect size!

After taking out the picture I set the frame up to spray paint! I used old spray paint lids to prop up the frame, this worked perfectly!

Once the frame was dry I laid it out on my parents kitchen table and set up the ribbon! I played around with a lot of different "designs" before I settled on this one. Then my mom helped me with the staple gun and we attached the ribbon. *Tip* Make sure to pull the ribbon TIGHT when you staple it! I've had to re-staple some after adding the bows.

And here's the finished product! I LOVE it! :-) Side note...do you not LOVE the chair this is sitting on?! My mom got them (it's part of a pair) at a garage sale...needless to say I had major garage sale envy of this find!

Before-After

All in all this was a SUPER simple project! I think I spent around $10 total with spray paint and ribbon. Much better than the $50 or $60 I was looking at online!

Also, I've decided on a way to store all of her bow-bands and headbands!!! Andrea, over at My Chihuahua Bites, said that she had seen people use an oatmeal container covered in scrapbook paper to store bands! GENIUS! Then I found a picture of this wonderful idea on Pinterest...of course :-)

On another note I've chosen the GIVEAWAY item!!! Be looking for that post soon, trust me...it's a good one!!! I'm so excited about it!
