Our New Happy Home

I had been waiting to blog about where we'll be living after our big move because I didn't want to jinx anything! Well...the movers have been called, all paperwork is in and approved, and travel plans have been made...so I've decided to share a picture of our new home! :-)

I just love it! I can't wait to start decorating and making it our home! Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me and given me advice throughout this process. My stress level is down...a little :-) Moving is tough...moving is tougher when you're pregnant...and moving is EVEN tougher when you're in charge of EVERYTHING because the hubby is away working hard. I've grown tremendously through the past few months and although this has been a stressful process I'm glad that I can finally see a light at the end of the tunnel. I'll feel much better when we're all moved in and settled!

Bow and Tell

Well after making bows for a while now I've decided to do a little bow tutorial! I will try my hardest to explain what I do along with each picture! Making bows is something that you just have to practice! I've only gotten better and quicker the more bows I make!!! To start off, here are a few of my tips that are REALLY helpful!

Tips

- Always thread your needle FIRST! That way you can easily thread it through the bow without loosing your spot! And I've added a picture of how the needle should be threaded because I had NO CLUE and it took me forever to figure it out. I'm sure this is like super simple for all of you, but if you're like me, it helps to have a visual!

Thread your needle with string so that you have it about this long, maybe a little longer, and tie the two hanging pieces in a knot about where this person's thumb is towards the bottom.

- I heat treat the ends of my ribbon with a lighter, it seals the ribbon and keeps it from fraying.

- When threading your needle, longer is always better! Having not enough string is so frustrating!

Measuring Your Ribbon

For these bows I'm using 1.5" ribbon, and about a yard of ribbon for each bow! Check your spool and if you have 4 yards of ribbon an easy way to measure out a yard is to pull all ribbon off the spool and cut it in half, and then cut the halves in half! There ya go, 4 pieces of ribbon! :-)

Steps

1. First cross both ends of the ribbon to create a traingle base. Mine usually measure 3" across the bottom. Also, be sure to thread your needle!

2. Pick up the ribbon at the point where the two sides cross.

3. Take one side and cross it underneath. Make sure the loop you make is the same size as the other two.

4. Cross the other side underneath as well.

5. Take the right piece of ribbon and fold it onto the middle of the bow.

6. Do the same with the other side.
NOTE: You may not always have them match up like this. I have extra leftover sometimes. You can either clip these down after you've sewn the bow, OR you can make them into tails if you have enough left over!

7. Take your needle and thread it through the center making sure not to pull the string through just yet. Just thread the needle, this will make your center crease once you pull it through.

8. Pull the needle through, scrunch it as you do this.

9. Then wrap the string around the center a couple of times and tie a knot!

10. Play with the bow once you have it sewn! For this one I flipped it around and fluffed the loops until I found a look that I liked!

11. I use smaller ribbon to wrap around the middle.

12. Put a spot of hot glue on the side you've declared the "back".

13. Press down one end of the smaller ribbon, let dry and then wrap around the center of the bow. Once you have a smooth center you can cut the extra ribbon and put another spot of hot glue on the back to secure it.

And there you have it! :-) Your finished bow!!!

My biggest tip for all of you bow makin' mama's out there is to PRACTICE! :-) Don't get disocuraged...it takes making LOTS of bows that look funny to get the look you want! If you have any questions just e-mail me!!! Good Luck! I'll be doing a tutorial on how to cover and attach alligator clips soon!

26 Weeks

How Far Along: 26 Weeks

Size of Baby: About a pound and two thirds (not to be exact or anything haha) and about 14 inches long.

Total Weight Gain: I'm thinking about 13lbs

Maternity Clothes: Yes. And some non-maternity shirts.

Gender: All girl, and her wardrobe is growing each day!

Movement: LOTS and all the time! Her favorite time of the day to be active is about 4am-5am right after my middle of the night potty trip! As much as I love it, she's started to keep me from falling back asleep lol

What I miss: A continuous nights sleep without interruption.

Cravings: Nothing really this week.

Symptoms: Nothing new this week.

Best Moment of the Week: Shopping with my mom! We had a great time and got some ADORABLE little outfits, look for a post on that soon!!!

What I'm looking forward to: Getting everything settled with our move and finishing everything that needs to be completed before the big day!

25 Weeks

Well here I am at 25 weeks!!! I've finally finished traveling (for now) and am enjoying relaxing at home with my parents!

How Far Along: 25 Weeks

Size of Baby: 13 and a half inches and about a pound and a half! About the size of an eggplant!

Total Weight Gain: At my doctors visit this week I had only gained one pound since the last visit. So I've gained a total of 12 pounds.

Maternity Clothes: Yep! :-) Although stretchy maternity pants are KILLING me in this heat!

Gender: Girl

Movement: ALL the time! I love it though. I have noticed that she is way more likely to move around a bunch when it's quiet. If the TV has been on and is turned off she'll move around. She also tends to move more in the late afternoon and evening!

What I Miss: The hubster...that's pretty much it. I don't miss anything pre-pregnancy right now.

Cravings: Chick-fil-a lately! I just love it!

Symptoms: Her movement, some stretching pain, low back pain occasionally.

Best Moment of the Week: Finding a dresser for the nursery and getting closer to deciding on nursery bedding!!! Also, Tonight we had a fun dinner with my Grandparents, I love getting to spend time with them. For appetizers my mom had a fun idea to serve the guacamole in a margarita glass! It was so cute and everyone has their own little serving!!!

What I'm looking forward to: Ordering baby bedding and getting started on all of my nursery projects!

100 Days

In just 100 days we will have reached Emma Claire's due date. Can you believe that?! Just ONE HUNDRED days, people!!! For those of you who are less interested in the arrival of my child, in one hundred days it will also be HALLOWEEN! Which means that hopefully this dreadful heat will be over!!!

I'm just so excited to meet this sweet little girl! There is SO MUCH to do before she makes her grand entrance!!!

Just a little update on life...

There are so many other things I wish I was writing about right now... I  wish I was writing this blog post about our new house...but it's not official yet and I'm not about to jinx it! So hopefully I will be able to tell you all about our new home soon!!! This is also the first week that I've been a big slacker on my weekly baby updates! I just haven't felt cute enough lately for a picture...but I'll force myself to take one soon, at least before I'm into my next week! Now on to my little life update :-)

I'm back in TEXAS!

After traveling for five weeks I'm finally back home! I missed these little faces while I was gone and it's good to be back with them! :-)

I've started making bows again!

And the dogs have been my little models ;-)

I've been running lots of errands with Mom...

Which usually means a trip or two to Costco, I LOVE their berry smoothies! YUM!

Some good news:

- My Mom and I found an antique dresser that will be featured in the nursery! I can't wait to share! My camera is not cooperating currently and I want a really good picture to show it off! It's going to be painted, but I'm not sure what color yet...look for a complete nursery post coming soon!

- I've been making lots of bows lately and I just got a bunch of new ribbon! I'm thinking about selling some, anyone interested? Seeing as you'd be my guinea pigs...I'm sure you'd get a great deal ;-)

Some not so good news:

- I cannot get my camera to work! UGH...and to clarify it's not the ACTUAL camera, it's my memory card, it keeps locking in the "card write protected" position! So it looks like I may be getting a new card if I can't fix it!

- I've been at the doctors office one time too many this week :-( After my initial glucose screen they said my numbers were a little high and wanted me to come back for the three hour test. GREAT. Although after a little research I found out that what I ate for breakfast before my screen was ALL WRONG. They told me to just eat what I normally would. Well, lately that has been cinnamon life cereal and a banana...which has LOTS of sugar! When I asked the nurse about it at the three hour test she said that's probably why I got called back in. Gee thanks people, that would've been good to know!

- I would like to know if we're going to be homeless when we move to DC. HA! :-) I'm just kidding, we won't be homeless but I still haven't heard if we got the town home for SURE. Although everything has been approved according to my real estate agent I haven't been given the 100% go ahead! Which I need to schedule the movers! I'm a HUGE planner so a week of not knowing is killing me!

All in all I'm glad to be done traveling and am a little closer to making the final move, although the closer it gets the more nervous I get! Hopefully all of the glitches will be worked out and everything will go smoothly! I hope you're all having a great week!!!

Also one last question....

Where did you get your child's nursery bedding?
(Places other than Pottery Barn Kids, I have one picked out there already, just want some other ideas!)

Or if you don't have a child then where do you look for cute bedding? I'm not a fan of typical "baby-ish" decor. AKA no flowers, butterfly's, animals...just cutsey not super expensive bedding!

Bad Blogger!

I have been such a bad blogger this week! In between recuperating from almost 5 weeks of traveling, reuniting with my puppies, figuring out housing up in DC AND growing a little human I've been quite busy! I promise to update you all on everything SOON! I need to do my 25 week update, share some cute goodies that the little miss has gotten from some sweet friends, and update you on the house search!!! It's on my to-do list for today...keep your eyes out!!! :-) I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

House Hunting

The past few days I have been house hunting up in Virginia! I have had a wonderful time working with my realtor, she has been awesome! I also am loving spending time with my friend who has also been a great asset and I am SO glad I have here to help me! With all of that being said...house hunting is an EXTREMELY stressful experience especially when pregnant AND when you're the only one making decisions, it's been hard having to constantly relay info to the Hubster. I am quite frazzled as of right now and I hope that in a few months I'll look back at the actual house hunt and laugh at how stressed I was. Here are a few pictures from my house hunting journey!

Two of the cute little town homes we looked at! I've looked at about twenty by now!

Here's the cute little downtown area of where I've been looking!

Pretty much adorable :-)

I spent a lot of my time thinking, "What in the world were these people thinking?!"...

Case in point...why would you EVER get switch plate covers that look like THIS?! Ha!

These people are lucky I'm HGTV educated and can see past the junk and notice that this is actually a nice sized closet!!! But come on...what were they thinking?! You are trying to sell your house, right?

I have lots to consider and hopefully I won't be homeless in the future ;-)

24 Weeks

Well here I am at 24 weeks, otherwise known as SIX MONTHS! The little miss is not feeling so little now-a-days...she has been very low this past week so I have been having some back pain. Luckily last night she decided to move around a bit and I'm feeling better today! I still love feeling and watching all of her movements and I just cannot believe that I am 6 months! Where has the time gone?!

How Far Along? 24 Weeks

Size of Baby: Last week she gained 4 ounces and is over a pound now! She's about the size of an ear of corn! :-)

Total Weight Gain: Not sure :-)

Maternity Clothes: Mixture of both

Gender: Sweet little girl :-)

Movement: All the time!

What I Miss: Nothing really, maybe sleeping without tossing and turning and waking up 5 times!

Cravings: Fruits and Veggies. We had pizza for dinner the other night and I cut up a large garden tomato to eat with it! ha! :-)

Symptoms: The newest one is a really tight stomach, my belly button is getting super tight! If only this was due to my emerging 6 pack and not emerging baby belly ;-)

Best Moment of the Week: Enjoying some time with the Hubster :-) I'm not sure when I'll see him next so it was good to have some quality time together! We laughed more this weekend than we have in a long time and I was constantly reminded how lucky I am.

What I'm looking forward to: HOUSE HUNTING!!! I am SO excited to go look at houses! I have a great friend I'm staying with who has been such a great help and I just know we're going to have a great time house shopping!

Oh Happy Day!

Can you believe Friday is here AGAIN?! I feel like it was just Friday yesterday! Not that I'm complaining, I LOVE Fridays!

Here's why today is a Happy Day! :-)

I get to see the Hubster AGAIN this weekend!
That's THREE weekends in a row, folks! I'm not sure when I'll see him next but I'm going to have my hands full with creating another human being, house shopping, packing, MOVING...ya know, little stuff ;-)

I get to HOUSE SHOP next week!
Growing up I wanted to be a real estate agent. I would personally take it upon myself to find my family's next home whenever it was time to move (and sometimes when it wasn't time for us to move! ha!) As much as my parents loved my constant badgering help, they encouraged me to become a real estate agent. While I didn't pursue real estate as my career I still LOVE looking at houses and I am so excited to finally get to house shop for ME! I can't wait! I am so lucky to have made a wonderful friend through teaching and I'm going to stay with her for the week! She just moved back to DC and I'm so excited to see her new house!

I get to see my fur-babies SOON!

I miss their goofy little faces :-) Thankfully they're having a great time with Grammy while Mommy is traveling! I've never been away from them for this long, it's been rough!

It's Friday in South Georgia...

Which means that the local hot dog stand is open, although I get a corn dog!

Little Miss now has a place to sleep...
How beautiful is this crib?! It was the Hubsters when he was a baby and we're going to use it in Emma Claire's nursery! I am so excited that she gets to sleep in the same bed that her daddy did when he was a baby! The Hubster and his Dad got it out of the attic and put it together to make sure all of the parts were accounted for, and they were! Stay tuned for a nursery inspiration post! I think I've got the bedding picked out :-)

I hope you have a HAPPY FRIDAY!!! :-)
What's making YOU happy today?
