Tasty Treat Thursday

Hey y'all! Tasty Treat Thursday is coming a little later today. Allie and I were running around all day long and just got home. We went to a C-R-A-Z-Y consignment sale today.
{More on that later!}

Today I'm going to share a fun fall recipe with  you since fall is {almost} in the air. So gather your apples and bust out the crock-pot to make some delicious homemade applesauce!

I just have to say that there's nothing better than applesauce made from fresh apples! I was somewhat skeptical at first, and wasn't sure how it would turn out...but it was WONDERFUL!

Ingredients

8-10 Apples
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (I actually used less)
1 cup water
1 tablespoon lemon juice

Directions

1. Wash apples.

2. Peel apples.

3. Cut apples into small pieces.

(didn't actually get a picture of this step...but you get the idea!)

4. Combine apples, sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice and water in crock pot.

5. Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 8 hours.

I let mine cook until it was "mushy" enough for me! ha

ENJOY! :-)

Oh and it also helps if you have a little assistant in the kitchen...

Gracie got a little taste of the applesauce as well and she loved it too ;-)

Our Guy

For some reason I am having the hardest time starting this blog post. Maybe it's the fact that it's almost midnight and we have been going all day long and I should be sleeping instead of blogging. No, that can't be it. Ha! Today Emma Claire and I got to see our guy for the first time in a week! We are used to not seeing him but usually he's leaving us and not the other way around.

Originally when I talked to Allie about coming to visit her in NC it was because my husband was supposed to have a work trip here. The original plan was that he was going to be in NC for over a week. That turned into three days. Then today after he had been in town for an hour he found out that he was being sent back home tomorrow at 8am. So that meant we got to see him tonight for a grand total of about three hours. We all went to dinner and had a great time. The girls were our entertainment of course.

 Sippy cup twins

My goofbal, she is a HOT mess! She was too excited to be spending time with her daddy!

We also got Allie to take some pictures of the three of us. The hubs and I matched {not on purpose} wearing navy and khakis! Too funny!

Yes your eyes are seeing that right. There was a HUGE gang of bikers {not to be confused with a biker gang} at the restaurant we went to!

I love our little trio. Sadly since he is going back home and we are still in NC it will be a few more days before we see him again.

BBQ Babies

A few days ago we got the girls dolled up in matching BBQ onesies and headed out to eat barbeque for lunch.

Seriously, could they BE any cuter?!

I had a chicken sandwich, Brunswick stew, and cucumber salad. Delicious. Emma Claire loved it all too!

The ladies hammed it up as usual and got tons of attention.

Baby girl and I after lunch.

I think we got asked if they were twins five times in the store. It's a question we've gotten all week long! I love it!

Also a little shout out to  my wonderful hosts...HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! It's their three year anniversary today! I wish you many years of happiness :-)

Busy Birthday

Well today was one of the best birthday's I've had in years. Even though I wasn't with the hubs I did get to celebrate with my two favorite little ladies and Allie. We had a blast running errands, shopping, and going to lunch and dinner.

When I woke up this morning a certain little lady was very excited that I was my birthday.

We got all dressed and ready to run errands.

Our first stop was to Once Upon a Child. EC got the CUTEST winter coat for only $10. How adorable is she?!

Raleigh Grace is an expert shopper already.

Shopping AND playtime? The best of both worlds.

After we did some shopping we headed to our favorite spot for lunch...Chick Fil A!
I cannot get over her TEETH! So thankful for this picture. I can't ever get her to open her mouth, I'm glad Allie can always make Emma Claire laugh.

They are starting to mimic each other. It cracks me up.
After lunch we headed to Target and EC rode in the Baby Bjorn for the first time. She loved it but is a bit heavy for this Momma's shoulders.

We had to.
On the way from Target to Old Navy we got caught in a downpour. Emma Claire and Raleigh Grace thought it was hilarious.

After Old Navy we stopped in DSW and EC did a little shoe shopping.
The shoe she grabbed from the rack was actually the same color as the fish on her outfit! Fashionista already!

We also went to Sonic, Ross, and Buy Buy Baby this afternoon. Like I said it was a busy day! Our last stop of the day was at Qdoba for dinner.
Emma Claire was not interested in taking one final birthday picture with Mommy.

Sweet babes in the bath. Raleigh Grace is such a tan little bebe!

When I came out after putting Emma Claire down for the night Allie and her hubby surprised me with this sweet cake!
I have to give the credit to her hubby though because he was the one who went out and got it for me, how sweet is that? And notice the color scheme? Sic'em.

Thank you to everyone for the sweet birthday wishes. I truly had a wonderful day and am so blessed. Here's to year twenty four!

Fast Friends

When I first started blogging I "met" Allie and we quickly found out we had LOTS in common. The first big similarity was that we were both pregnant with baby girls and we were both due in
October. Then we found out we both went to Baylor, were elementary education majors, AND were in the same sorority {Alpha Chi Omega} just a few years apart. Then when we thought we couldn't have anything else in common we both decided to give our daughters double names. We also both made cross country moves from Texas to the east coast in the middle of our pregnancies. Our lives were eerily similar. Once our girls were born the similarities continued. Both little ladies have blonde hair and blue eyes, are very social, hit milestones at almost the same time points in their little lives, and have similar sleeping habits.

Even with all of these similarities we had never crossed paths other than in blog land. Needless to say we were anxious to meet in person. So when the hubs said he had a chance to visit North Carolina on business I jumped at the opportunity to visit Allie and Raleigh Grace. Sadly only a few weeks ago the hubs found out he would only be in North Carolina for a few days and Allie and I had already planned lots of details of our trip. So I decided to go on ahead with our trip and Emma Claire and I drove six hours to meet up with Allie and Raleigh Grace. Yes you read that right. EC and I drove six hours to go stay with people I met over the Internet. Crazy? Maybe...but we have had a great time so far!

When we first got to their house Raleigh Grace was asleep. Once she woke up she finally got to meet Emma Claire! They weren't too sure what to think of each other

They hit it off and started "sharing" toys immediately.

Emma Claire was fascinated with Raleigh Grace and followed her around constantly.

They played together and entwined their feet. So precious. The only thing that's cuter than one pair of baby toes is two.

Snack time.

Getting ready to go to dinner.

Keeping it classy at Wendy's.

After our fancy dinner we headed to Wal-Mart. The girls managed to get two matching outfits out of the deal.

This morning the girls shared some Cheerios.

I. Love. This. Picture. How sweet are these two!?

We are having a blast and are SO thankful for our sweet hosts. They are letting us crash in Raleigh Grace's room and use her crib. I can't wait to see how much more trouble these two can get into this week!
