Powder Bathroom

I have been writing this post in my head for months. When we bought this house I knew that the powder bath would be my first project. While I know some people love a bright, bold, orange...it just wasn't for me. So here it goes, probably the longest bathroom reveal post ever. I am so excited to finally share I don't even care about how many pictures I post! Drum roll please...the "official" before and after!

I am SO happy with the end result. It came together beautifully and was exactly what I had pictured in my head. I should also mention that I painted hte ceiling white before painting the walls. So there is a clean, crisp line between the walls and ceiling now. I love that detail.

Photographing a powder bathroom is quite a challenging task! This is the view into the room from the formal living area. I found that key wall hanging at  Home Goods for $8!

The key wall hanging inspired this piece of scripture art that I created. I just love it. I originally planned to paint this frame but once I hung it up I decided I liked the dark contrast against all of the other light elements of the room.

As far as the hardware of the room I replaced the wall toilet paper holder with this cute stand.

The room also had a very long hand towel bar that was more appropriate in a full bathroom. So it got nixed and was replaced with this beauty.

I also replaced the basic builder mirror with this beauty. It didn't start out like this though. I picked it up at goodwill several months ago and it was bright purple. I think heirloom white looks much better, don't you?

One of my favorite parts of the room is my little white shelf. I snagged it at a yard sale several months ago and when I saw it I knew this is where it would go. I painted it white a few days ago and I am in love with it.

Some shelf details: 1. the top shelf is adorned with a cute silver platter and a starfish. 2. the middle shelf is holding extra hand towels. 3. the bottom shelf has an antique silver basket with extra toilet paper. Hey, if the room has to have TP in it then it might as well be held in a cute basket, am I right?!

I also love my above the toilet shelf. It's just so sweet and simple. Just the vibe I was going for.

I was undecided if I wanted a rug in the room. But after asking for some advice via twitter/instagram the consensus was that a rug is appropriate in a powder bath. So to Home Goods I went. I picked up this little rug and brought it home. It is the perfect color. The blue accent is almost the same color as the wall. Love.

And because I can't do a post without my little design assistant...here she is. Jumping in the photo giving some design advice.

I hope you like it as much as I do. Now I would like to formally invite each and every one of you over to my house. However, you have to stay in this room the whole entire visit. The rest of my house is in no shape to accept visitors. :-)

Our powder room was the first room we redid too!! Ours was AWFUL! It was purple and pink with painted flowers and horrible wallpaper...UGGGH!!! We did SO much to it and you would NEVER know it was so horrible before!!

Love all of the details, I can only imagine how amazing this house is going to be if you put that much detail into your powder room!! :)

I can't believe how much you accomplish with a little one. It gives me hope that I, too, can tackle our house makeover even with Connor.
