Guest Post, Fess Up Friday, and a Fever

I know a lot of y'all read Miss Tami's blog, Little Moments Like This, but if you don't...you should! She is awesome and I have loved becoming "friends" with her through our little blogs. Today I'm guest posting about how to handle life as a "single" parent. AKA how I manage the Mr. working odd hours and being gone a lot.

You can read my guest post {HERE}

I've also dedicated today "Friday Fess-up"
 I'm going to show you the current state of my house. You will most likely be shocked. This disaster of a home is the product of having a mobile nine month old, many home improvement projects going on at once, and a husband who works too much ;-) I know that this mess is just temporary but it still drives me crazy. So if you've ever wanted to see what my house REALLY looks like...read on! {And please don't judge too harshly!}

Today I organized my china cabinet and I would usually just show you this picture...

but since it's fess up Friday you get to see the entire dining room and the glorious mess it is.

Sadly this is the view from the front door right now.

having it all labeled makes it somewhat more bearable. Right? This room was initially cleaned out after we moved in but things have slowly been finding their way back as we transition items from room to room. This will {one day} be our formal living area and I have plans for my dad to build a built in bookshelf!

...And of course. The trash needs to go out and there are tiny laundry piles everywhere.

I know the mess is temporary and will go away as projects are finished but it drives me nuts. Sadly there is only one of me and there is a little lady that demands 110% of my attention most days. So I can only accomplish so much in a day.

On top of all of this Emma Claire is running her first ever fever. Pitiful doesn't even begin to describe it.

Earlier she fell asleep in my arms, something she hasn't done in months. I thought it was sweet until I noticed how warm she was. Well when she woke up I took her temp and sure enough it was 101.5.

So it was out of the cute outfit and no errands for us today. I gave her Tylenol and ran a luke warm bath. Is her face here not the saddest thing you've ever seen??

Sesame street is on right now and she is transfixed.

Wanna hear a funny story? When I called our pedi about her fever I told them it was 101.5 and the nurse said, "Well you need to take her to the hospital immediately." I responded with a shocked, "The HOSPITAL?!" After talking for a few minutes she told he it was a pediatric emergency and she needed to go to the ER immediately. So I hung up and frantically got things ready to go while thinking to myself that I know lots of babies who run fevers and don't go to the EMERGENCY ROOM. As I was getting ready to leave the nurse called back and said, "How old is Emma?" To which I thought 'her name is EMMA CLAIRE'...then 'ugh that's not the point', and said, "She's 9  months, why?" The nurse cracked up and said, "Oh my gosh do NOT take her to the hospital! Earlier I misunderstood you and thought you said she was ONE month old." Needless to say I was relieved however a tad irritated.

So on top of a messy house I have a little sickie to tend to :-( and no groceries. {it was grocery day today} Sigh. I suppose I should go read my own guest post on how to handle all of this alone and not throw a pity party! ha!

Awe. I'm so sorry about sweet Emma Claire! :( your photos of your home definitely make me feel a little more "normal" ha!! And my home has looked this way since we moved here...maybe I've avoided unpacking some things bc I feel this home is temporary? Who knows ha!

Oh poor EC! I hope she gets better soon. That nurse sounds nutty but at least it's better than what I got when Ave was running over a 103 degree fever. The nurse said "so what do you want to do about it?" HAHA! Awful.

And yes, Abby's Flying Fairy School is a hit in our house, as well as Elmo!

I have the same thoughts regarding my name, though 99% of the time I correct them.

Don't feel bad, my house is a wreck, too. It's hard to keep it spotless with a mobile baby!

Saw your guest post---and totally relate! My husband works in accounting/finance in NYC and can work some crazy hours. On top of that, I have two little boys, two dogs, and no family nearby---so I can totally relate! You just do it without thinking too much because there isn't really any other option:) Looking forward to reading more...just followed!
