Emma Claire One Week

What a difference a week can make!

This time last week I was in awe of my sweet baby girl who had just been born, today I am even more in love with her than I though possible! I mean come on...look at this face!!!

My little pumpkin, does this smile not make you melt?!

Emma Claire: Week One

Loves: Her swing, eating, being burped, cuddling with Mommy and Daddy,

Eating: This week got off to a pretty bumpy start. We got home from the hospital on Tuesday and my milk didn't come in until SATURDAY. That's a long time for a little one to wait for a good meal! I was producing colostrum but it just wasn't enough. By Thursday I decided that she needed some nutrition and supplemented with formula while still trying to breastfeed. Let me tell you...trying to feed a STARVING infant with no true milk coming out is not fun for anyone! I can happily report that now my milk is in and formula is out. Emma Claire is quite the happy camper now, there's nothing like watching her smile in her little food coma after eating!

Sleeping: Due to the feeding issues mentioned sleep was pretty rough at first but it's getting much better. The past few nights she has woken up twice for a feeding/changing session. Her sleep time after the second feeding is usually 4-5 hours which is wonderful!

Fun Facts: Today was Emma Claire's first doctors visit! Somehow we made it there! HA! I woke up at 7:15...the appointment was at 8:20! We were somehow only 10 minutes late! I never knew how many things I could accomplish while breastfeeding! While Emma Claire ate breakfast I took care of the dogs, changed laundry, got her outfit ready, brushed my teeth, AND printed off paperwork! Once she finished eating I showered and got ready, then got her ready, put up the dogs and we were out the door! But more on the actual doctors visit ;-) Everything looks great! Emma Claire weighs 7 pounds 5 ounces so she has already put on 4 ounces from the day we were discharged from the hospital!

Mommy Moments: This afternoon I turned our sun room portion of our living room into a baby photo shoot area. I opened up the big blinds to warm up the room as well as cranked up the heat in the house. Then when she was fed, changed and mostly asleep I started taking pictures. I got some great pictures and only got peed on once in the process ;-) I have also discovered that I can do many things with one hand while breastfeeding, such as; let the dogs out, do laundry, brush my teeth, get her outfit ready, talk on the phone, feed the dogs, and several other things.

Firsts: Mommy caught a smile on camera for the first time! Emma Claire wore footie PJ's, went out of the house to the farmers market and Target, had visitors over, and went to the doctor for the first time this week! We had a big week!

Now the fun part...pictures from this past week!

Cuddling with Daddy on our first night home

Does this not crack you up!? I laugh every time I see it!

First time wearing footie pajamas!

Cross-eyed in the swing..it freaks Mommy out when she does this!

First smile caught on camera!

All ready to go on our first outing!

First trip out of the house to the farmers market!

She did SO great! After the farmers market we went to Target of course!

Daddy's first time feeding Emma Claire!

Emma Claire's first visitors at home! Our WONDERFUL friends came to visit us and brought us an amazing dinner!

Such a great dinner! Homemade sauce AND homemade deer sausage spaghetti!!! Thank you guys SO MUCH!

Today was also our first Doctors visit! She did so great!

What a week it was! I cannot believe how quickly the time has flown by. I wish there was a pause button so I could keep her this tiny! I know that I'm going to love every stage she is at but right now I am just so in love with her teeny tiny newborn self I don't want her to grow! Which may be why I only took 294 pictures this afternoon ;-) And I'm going to leave you hanging with one of my favorite pictures from today's photo shoot and let me tell you...picking just ONE was hard!

Oh Mallorie, love that little baby! Such a beautiful darling!

So glad nursing is going well. And yay for you on breastfeeding and multitasking! It took me quite awhile to get coordinated for it.

I started going to La Leche League meetings when my first daughter was 1 month old. I didn't have any issues, just went to meet other moms, and it was one of the best things I ever did. Being around other breastfeeding moms was very comforting to me, and I met some great women and their children.
Loving how much you're enjoying your new daughter, and loving the memories it brings back for me. Blessings to you!
