"Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the LORD's purpose that prevails." Proverbs 19:21
I'm linking up with Kelly's Korner's "Show Us Your Life Friday" today to share about my soon to be, Alma Mater...Baylor University. I will be graduating this May! Baylor is the largest Baptist University in the World, as well as the oldest university in Texas, having been founded in 1845! When I made the decision to go to Baylor four years ago I had no idea just how much my life was going to be impacted. God has the ultimate plan for my life and I truly believe that he personally chose Baylor as the right college for me. At Baylor I met my best friends, future husband, and made memories that will last a lifetime.
Here I am on the night I graduated from High School. I wore the "I Know Where I'm Going" shirt proudly. It was the shirt that all furture Baylor students got when they accepted the offer to attend Baylor. My freshman year was full of new and exciting opportunities. In the spring I pledged Alpha Chi Omega and met some of my best friends!
Me with two of my best friends, Bre and Kandyce!
I love these girls! It's because of these wonderful girls that I met my Future Husband. It's a long story...but the short version is that my friends went on Spring Break in Florida and while there they met the Future Hubster. They became friends with him and shortly after they all came back I finally met the Future Hubster and the rest is history ;-) Here is a picture of Kandyce and I right before going to the Pledge Dance where the Future Hubster and I were set up.
We dressed up as the Baywatch Girls..Baylor appropriate of course ;-). You can see Future Hubster in the background! Fast forward to almost two years later to the best day of my life thus far...
I said, "Yes" to the most important question anyone has ever asked me on August 20th, 2010. The Future Hubster proposed on a bridge on campus where we had our first kiss :-) It was perfect. Baylor has been a huge part of our relationship. On our first date we sat on a swing and talked for hours, and we would frequently walk around campus when we first started dating. We still take the occasional long walk around campus to talk and spend some quiet time alone together. We love being a "Baylor Couple" and we embrace all of the silly traditions that come along with that title! :-)
Another decision that greatly impacted my life was choosing Elementary Education as my major. The next best decision I made was to become Dual Certified in Gifted and Talented education. I am part of an amazing group of girls who I have been lucky enough to work with the past three years.
This picture was taken on our last day of our "TA" (Teaching Associate) year!
I met my best friend Paige through our education classes :-) I don't know what I would've done without her these past few years!
I would not trade my time at Baylor for anything in the world. I have grown more during these past four years than I though possible. I cannot wait to begin my career as a teacher and use all of my knowledge and skills that I learned while at Baylor.

Are there any other Baylor Bears out there? :-) I LOVE connecting with other Bears and Alumni! Sic'em!!! What was your favorite part about being a student at Baylor?

I can still remember our first class together! Who knew we would soon become best friends? Only a few months left together... we better make them count!
Well, I already mentioned this...but...my parents are Baylor alumni (a "few" years back). Does that sort of count? ;) Don't hate me b/c I went to Samford. Ha!
Baylor IS a great university.
It's where my parents met. They had their first date at El Chico. It was super cheap, great for a college budget. Lol. Is that restaurant still around?
Oh...and I liked your sweet story. :)
Okay this is SO sweet Mallorie! :)
Oh, I LOVED Baylor. I wrote my post so fast but and it's hard to put into words what Baylor really means to me...best decision EVER! I graduated in 2008!
What sweet memories of your undergrad years- enjoy the last 3 months, they flew by last year for me! And I love the shirt they give you - so cute! And a big congrats on your engagement - that is truly so special!

I love my Baylor Bears! I graduated in 2000 and wish I could go back and enjoy all the new and wonderful things they have added since I left. I also met my husband there.
Love your story. I also went to Baylor, majored in Elementary Education and was an Alpha Chi (but, my husband is an Aggie). (I'm also a wee bit older than you :D ) Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! God bless!
Found you via Kelly's Korner.

Thanks for commenting on my cleaning question post. :) I'll have to try that trick for the sink.
My sister in law and a good friend went to Baylor!
LOVE this post. I graduated Baylor in 2007 and one of my favorite things about Baylor was how beautiful the campus was. Gotta love all those turrets and red brick! I also loved the football games...even though we were less than stellar back then! Congrats on your upcoming graduation!

I live in Waco, but didn't attend Baylor. I have many friends who did though. Baylor is a great school and I would love for my boys to go there. Plus, they'd be close to me :) Love living in a college town and being a part of all the fun! I am a student at MCC and am also studying elementary education. I hope to transfer to Tarleton next year. Good luck in teaching - are you staying in Waco? And CONGRATS on graduation and your wedding!!!
I have several friends at Baylor that are graduating in May too! I am not far from you and am an elementary ed major too, wish we had a GT cert option where I am at. Good luck in the job search!
I think that "I know where I'm going" shirt is such a cute idea. I wish the college I went to had something like that.
And you and your finance have such a cute story! How cute that he proposed where you had your first kiss. I hope the wedding planning is going well! I too am engaged, and have to say I'm a little overwhelmed with all the planning in volved in the wedding
Sic Em from a 2002 Baylor Grad! College was some of the best years, cherish them!
Love your story and congrats on graduating.
I am not a Baylor grad, I am actually an Arkansas girl. I just moved back to Northwest Arkansas from Waco because my hubby worked in athletics at Baylor for the past few years. I made tons of friends during my time in Waco that were Baylor Alums and I think it is so wonderful how much pride they have in their school. It is such a beautiful campus with lots of fun traditions! I LOVED looking at all of your pics! My friend at Katie's Keepers is a BU grad. You should check out her blog if you do not already read it. She is precious! You and your man are cuties too!
Totally off subject, Mallorie, but you're a praying kind of girl. ;)
I posted on my blog that my friend Rosie just had her baby at 30 weeks and is in NICU. Prayers appreciated by all! Thanks!
I am Seth's sister. I'd love to forward a little info about your friend to him. You can email me directly at jkmaedgen@gmail.com
My husband had a cousin that went to Baylor and absolutely loved it!!
