Emma Claire Five Weeks

So the little lady is down for a nap in her crib...for hopefully  longer than 45 minutes. Fingers crossed :-) As I sit down to write this post I can't believe my baby is almost six weeks old! (I'm really late with the five weeks post!) Some of last week and this week are blurred together, so this will be like a little mash-up of weeks five and six!

Loves: Sleeping on Mommy, we're starting to tolerate our bouncer, eating, Dr. Brown's bottles (they're a LIFESAVER!), Christmas music, warm baths, and snuggling

Eating: BF is getting easier, it's by far Emma Claire's favorite past time. She loves to cuddle up and eat, which makes me SO happy! While BF was rough at the start I am so glad I kept with it. The adjustments I've made have helped us become more successful. She does get formula on occasion. We have problems with the left side so I've been pumping the left and feeding her on the right. Everyone is much happier now that we've made that adjustment. When I've fed her completely on the right and given her what I've pumped she's sometimes still hungry so then she'll get some formula. It's amazing how a full baby is a happy baby!

Sleeping: Well she's currently up in her crib and has been for an hour and a half! (Update: she slept for TWO HOURS!!!) HALLELUJAH. This is the longest she's slept in her crib. Before this naps during the day were pretty much non-existent, she would sleep for a while in her pack-n-play but really was up for the majority of the day. Then last weekend she napped almost all afternoon because we had company and was held most of the day. Well that night she slept for SIX hours. Then I was thinking about it and Thanksgiving night she slept over five hours...she had also napped all afternoon that day due to being held. Hmmmm, seems that when she naps in the afternoon she sleeps longer at night. Which means that in order to sleep longer stretches at night we HAVE to nap during the day. I guess I was thinking that because she wasn't falling asleep that she didn't need to...so I've started putting her down in her crib for naps. Here's hoping it goes well!

Clothes: Newborn diapers are OUT, size one are IN! We have a few NB diapers left that get used if I can't get upstairs to the diaper stash. We're still in newborn clothes and some 0-3 although they're pretty huge on her. But since her Christmas outfits are all 0-3 we're wearing them anyways!!!

Fun Facts: This week she has stopped going straight to crying when she wants something...she kind of shouts now. It may be the cutest sound ever. It cracks me up...and she has a face to go with it. I kid you not..

She may look upset but she's fine, just testing out her voice. I just crack up each time she "yells" at me!

Mommy Moments: Christmas decorating with a newborn=most difficult task EVER. Enough said :-) Thankfully today I was able to fluff the tree, ornaments will go on tomorrow...hopefully!

Firsts: We had our first choking experience. Scared me to death. I was giving her some gripe water and she got the hiccups and it was just a bad combination. Some of it went down the wrong way. Needless to say I was terrified but she started coughing which I knew meant that she was getting air so I tried (tried being the key word) not to panic. She recovered and I can tell you that I've never had that much adrenaline running through me before. Mommy adrenaline is intense.

Picture Perfect

We've had fun with the Christmas outfits this week :-)

She has a "sass" face already. She's thinking, "gosh Mom, I know I'm cute but seriously can we stop with all of these pictures"

She cracks me up with all of her funny faces!

The fur-babies have started crashing my photo sessions ;-)

I totally realized that I forgot to use my monthly onesie stickers so last weekend I broke them out.

Someone decided to start ACTUALLY smiling and thank the LORD I had my camera ready. I think these are my favorite pictures of her I've taken so far. Her smile melts my heart!

Such a little ham! I love her personality already!

Emma Claire also skyped with Great Granny and Grandpa! She loved it! She actually looked at the screen and everything!

We have "bouncer time" every morning after breakfast so Mommy can make herself something to eat and pick up a little bit! I'm so thankful she likes it a little better, it's been nice to actually cook breakfast this week!

This CRACKS ME UP. It's like Gracie is sticking out her tongue at the baby! HA!

I just can't get enough of her big blue eyes!

This picture totally defines our new priorities around here. Poor Gracie :-( Mommy's lap has a new tenant now-a-days! Don't let her fool you, she's totally fine with it.

Isn't it funny how your life totally changes after a baby? I am loving it though. Being a Mommy is better than I ever thought it would be!

Her pics crack me up. You won't regret taking 1,000 photos a week...regardless of the sassy looks she give you. Haha!

Btw...Be glad Gracie isn't the size of Sasha. Sasha tried getting in my lap (I guess she was jealous just that the LAPTOP was in my lap) and she punctured it. Not maliciously at all, just found something to chew on while she was attempting to hang out on my legs (up in the reclined leg rest).

Anyway...love all her fun updates. :)

she is adorable! loving all her outfits! I had the same problem with breastfeeding, Keira would only eat on the left side and I would have to pump the right side

It took me a while to figure out that I have to put Gene down for a nap if I want it to happen. I find that he's a lot less fussy in the evenings if he has at least one long nap.

Adeline is ALL about her bouncy seat...but she won't have the swing. I saw in your other post that Emma Claire just started loving her swing...maybe the time will come. It seems like she's way over-stimulated in it or something. The times she will just hang out in her bouncy are glorious, though...that's for sure! :)

Oh the bows on that sweet girl!! What a cutie! Love her expressions!
