One Picture

If I had to choose one picture I took today that summed up our day....this one is it.

She is a hoot. Right now she is teething and is just an all around mess! Today we had a stay at home day. I was supposed to be at bible study at 9:20am. Well Emma Claire and I woke up at 9:30am. Needless to say, we didn't go to bible study. Oops! It was nice to have a day at home. I had great intentions to get all laundry done, clean the floors, scrub our shower and really clean our bathroom. Did any of that happen? No. Of course not. I did manage to do some laundry though! It's the little things, isn't it?

A Girl and Her Dog

If you've read my blog for any length of time, or know me in real life, then you know that Emma Claire adores Dixie. A few days ago I was trying to get a few shots of Emma Claire before we went to MOPS but a furry family member just couldn't stay out of the pictures. So I went with it.

These two just crack. me. up. I hope these pictures made you smile. I know I smile each time I look at them.

Comparison

Now that Emma Claire has reached the big one year milestone it has been fun to look back at pictures from this time last year. I still cannot believe how much she has grown and changed in just a year.

I took the picture on the right tonight before bed. It was Emma Claire's first time to wear "big girl" jammies. I bought these sweet sock monkey pj's with Christmas Eve in mind but I just had to bust them out early. I couldn't wait any longer. She looked SO darling and it's almost like she knew it was a big deal to get to wear them.

I know this coming year she is going to blossom, change, and learn more each day. I am loving this current stage, just as I have loved all of the others. Each day she becomes more independent, more curious, and more fun. However, I still wish I could pause time, if just for a little bit so I can savor those moments of babyhood that are slowly slipping away.

About Emma Claire

So I am WAY behind on EC's monthly updates on the good ol' blog. But I finished her monthly books which for me took precedence. So I decided until I wrap up her monthly posts I wanted to do just a random little update on what Emma Claire is up to these days. I created a "note" on my phone so I could jot down the random little things she does each day that make me smile.

- She LOVES to dance. Anywhere. Anytime. All I have to do is start singing a song. Any song. She will also dance to any songs that come on TV. Even commercials. Cracks me up.

- She is a full time walker. I haven't seen her crawl in weeks. And she is VERY close to running. That's right. RUNNING. I am NOT ready for that.

- On that note she loves to be chased. One of her favorite things is to run around the island in the kitchen and for me to "get her". She cracks up. We play the "chase" game all evening some days.

- She can say: momma, dada, dadadada (doggie), hi, buh buh (bye bye) and sometimes she will say nigh nigh (night night).

- A few days ago she figured out how to squeeze her bath toys and make water come out. Hilarious.

- She also just learned the corelation between me saying "milk", signing milk, and her getting to nurse. At first I could sign milk without saying anything and she would try and lift my shirt. Now she has learned to sign milk. ADORABLE. Today after MOPS I was telling a few friends that she has learned how to sign milk and what it means. Well, I was obviously doing the sign and saying milk so guess who decided she wanted to nurse right. that. second. It was pretty funny.

- She loves to throw things. Usually at me.

- She loves drinking straight from a cup. She is also a rock star at drinking from straws. She was never a bottle baby and that's fine by me.

- She loves Dixie. She loves Gracie too but Gracie does not return her affection. She tends to run away anytime Emma Claire comes towards her. Which doesn't seem to bother her, she can usually get her hands on Dixie if Gracie runs away.

- Okay so this last "point" of mine is probably my favorite new development in Emma Claire land. She has started to give hugs. Y'all it is the cutest thing EVER. Today after MOPS a bunch of the kiddos were running around in the fellowship hall and Emma Claire started going up to the "big" kids (aka the 2 year olds) and giving them hugs. She would wrap her arms around them, lay her head on their shoulder, and smile. It was PRECIOUS. A few of the kids were not too sure about it. We were all cracking up. She just had to go give all of the kids hugs. I was so bummed I didn't have my camera, or my phone with me!

She is just getting so BIG and dare I say it...TODDLER-ISH! AH!
Honestly I am more okay with this than I thought I would be. She is getting to be more and more fun and interactive, which I'm loving!

My big girl and I before MOPS this morning.

Gosh I adore her. So sweet.
