When little dogs decide to mud bog...

I must start this post by first telling you that both of these little sweeties have had baths within the last 48 hours...Dixie actually had a bath TODAY. With that said, they both decided it would be a wonderful idea to go bounding through the largest puddle (more like a small lake due to all of the snow we got a few days ago) in the courtyard. They then decided that it would make their little adventure more exciting to run across the courtyard and through the largest area of mud they could find. It's like they just knew that they were clean and could hardly stand it! They tore around the backyard for a good five minutes getting completly dirty. At this point I decided they might as well get their energy out beacuse there was no way they weren't getting a bath...

Yes...she's very cute. Get beyond that and look at her completly muddy paws...you can't see this, but her little furry tummy was also covered in mud...not so cute anymore, is she? ;-)

The instigator of the whole ordeal...aka Dixie's partner in crime....she even LOOKS guilty!

This picture really doesn't do it justice...

And this little stinker is quite the "low rider". Since she is so low to the ground she was covered in mud.

Away to the bathtub we went!!! Such little brats...they even look guilty here! Maybe they just love bathtime so much that they want to come back for more! I very highly doubt that!

My sweet little drowned rat-dog....I was shocked to find out that she literally had the contents of the whole backyard stuck to her tummy fur. I guess I shouldn't have been surprised, but it was a pain to get off of her! Doesn't she look thrilled? :-)

This is one of my favorite things to do in life...when Gracie is all dried off I take a towel from the dryer and swaddle her. It takes her all of three minutes to be sound asleep, and if it were up to her she would stay like that all day. Okay....I have a confession...I wasn't ever really mad at them :-) It was quite the little spectacle and I'm sure that the young men that witnessed it from their balcony were quite entertained. Life happens and you just have to grin and bear it. :-)

Fun Finds!

Why is it that when you go out shopping and you're not really looking for anything, you find plenty to buy?! Today the Future Hubster and I went out to a few of our...okay...my favorite stores. :-) The first stop was to The Liquidators, a neat little store that always has great deals.

It carries overstocked, discontinued, or slightly damaged items and I usually find something interesting!

If you read Shanon's blog, Bless Our Nest, she talks about a store they have in Arkansas called Oops. Her store is so much cooler than my little store, her's is full of overstocked home goods! The Liquidators has a very small section of home goods, but I was lucky and found some beautiful picture frames today!

I just couldn't buy one, I picture these two complementing each other wherever I decide to put them. I doubt they will go up in my current house, I think they might get put with the rest of my "future home decor" that I have in my office closet. I am currently hoarding lots of cute home decorations that I'm saving for after the Future Hubster and I move into our new home as newlyweds! I just can't wait for that.

I am always on the lookout for teaching supplies that I can use when I have my own classroom next year. I was thrilled to find that The Liquidators had some teaching supplies today!!!

This Calendar Kit is SO CUTE! It has a large calendar with adorable month titles, seasonal stickers, cut outs, and even came with books about the seasons and crafts for kids! The best part...it was only $11! Talk about a steal, I am in love...I wish I had a classroom to put it up in now!

I also found this adorable little mailbox that teaches kids how to write letters! It was only $2! I just can't wait to have a classroom of my own to store all of the things I buy! My office is bursting at the seams with teaching supplies, materials, and books! Another plus..The Liquidators is conveniently located right next to one of my favorite places on earth..Hobby Lobby :-)

I love nothing more than strolling the aisles of "HobLob", as I lovingly refer to it! Today I had the pleasure of doing just so with the Future Hubster in tow...let me tell you, there's nothing like going through Hobby Lobby with a man along for the ride. He usually doesn't go with me, and was actually great company and I think he had fun! Although, if you were to ask him I'm sure he would deny that ;-) I was lucky enough to find a pair of iron candle holders that were marked way down.

They were originally $24.99 a peice but I got them for $8.49 each! They are missing the glass section that is supposed to hold the candle, but I think it will be a fun challange to find the perfect glass candle holder to fit them! I have also started to look for blue and white or blue and yellow items beause I want my future kitchen to be blue, yellow and white. For Christmas this year my mom got me a bunch of towels, bowls and other items in those colors for my future kitchen! Today at Hobby Lobby I found the cutest little blue and white decorative jar?(for lack of a better term!)

I'm not sure what it's official name is but it was on sale for $2.50 and I just had to have it! All in all it was a very successful day, and don't worry I got dragged into...I mean went with ;-) Future Hubster to the Army Navy Surplus Store AND Academy Sports and Outdoors.  So he got his fair share of "boy shopping" in! I can't wait for tomorrow to go to...The Flea Market!!! :-) Hopefully this good shopping fortune continues!

Puppies in the Snow

The dogs were so cute in the snow! I just wanted to share some pictures of them...they're too cute not to share. I told you that I would be sharing some soon :-)

Snowy noses!

After a long day playing out in the snow, taking pictures, and enjoying the wintery weather it was time for Miss Gracie to get a bath. Dixie dried right off, while Gracie had ice packed into her fur and it wouldn't come off. After giving her a bath I dried her off and then swaddled her in a warm towel fresh from the dryer. It was the cutest thing to watch, she literally was asleep within five minutes. I, too, dozed off soon after and future hubster grabbed the camera and snapped a picture of us sleeping :-)

All tuckered out after a long, fun day.

"You gave them charge of everything you made,
putting all things under their authority—
the flocks and the herds and all the wild animals,
the birds in the sky, the fish in the sea,
and everything that swims the ocean currents.
O Lord, our Lord, your majestic name fills the earth!" Psalm 8:6-9

Winter Wonderland

"The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event.  You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment then where is it to be found?" J.B. Priestley

As I went to bed last night the snow was beginning to fall and I couldn't wait to wake up and look out my window. Waking up to a world of white is an experience that never gets old! I was like a little kid again!!! Living in the south, any frozen precipitation is likely to cause a frenazy...this one sure did. I was up at 5:30am on a NON school day for me, just to peek at the yard and see how much it snowed. Naturally the puppies were up with me, so we went outside to explore!

The puppies had no idea what was coming...

They were very interested!

Dixie in the snow for the first time! Don't worry...I'll have more pictures of the puppies playing later... ;-)

Future hubster and I went out for an early morning drive before anyone was out on the roads. This was so fun, it's nice to be the only ones out on the roads...and much safer too!

My school is so pretty when it snows :-)

Future Hubster and I on "our" swing on campus.
We sat and talked on this swing for hours after our first date, and this is also the spot where we sat and talked right before he proposed. It's a very special place to us. So naturally we go there to take pictures in the snow!

It was so fun to get an "official" snow day!
I don't technically have class anymore because I'm an education major and I teach all week. However because I don't go to my school on Fridays I have seminar on campus, and it was fun to have that canceled!

They will run and not grow weary...

Hello everyone, it's been a long time! I've been so busy with teaching, lesson planning, running and life in general. Not to mention fighting off some nasty First Grade germs...which I imagine look something like this....

Thankfully I am feeling SO much better now!

Each day I have fallen more and more in love with my First Grade class, not their yucky little germs though! They are precious and I literally spend all day laughing at their funny personalities. This age is just such a sweet time, they're constantly hugging me and drawing me picutres. Today I even had a little boy complete a groundhogs day word search and when he was done he said, "I made this for you!". He even used his gel pens, just for me I'm sure ;-) In case you weren't aware, gel pens are THE big thing to have in First Grade.

While I was battling my nasty sick germs I ran another Half Marathon! My friend Jamie ran with me, although she finished much quicker than my sickey self. It was her first half and I'm so proud of her!!!

Here we are before the race! :-)

Jamie running!

Three words that sum up this race...heat, humidity, and HILLS!

Here I am crossing the finish line...my face is super excited because my wonderful parents surprised me and came down to watch me finish!!! :-) I have the best parents, I just love them!!!

How cute are they? I was so happy to see them after that long run!

My beautiful "congratulations presents" from the future hubster! He's so sweet and supportive. I am so lucky!

"But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:31
