First off I just want to say THANK YOU for all of the sweet words about Emma Claire. She was much better today and I just know she will be back to 100% soon.
As the little sickie sleeps I thought I would just jot down a few memories from this season of life.
- Emma Claire is a dancing fool. Any time she hears music anywhere she will start dancing. "Dancing" at our house now-a-days means she stomps her feet really fast and then sways back and forth while moving her head. The past few days she has REALLY loved dancing to the Calliou theme song. Yesterday when she was really sick she was laying her head on my chest resting when that song came on. She lifted her little head and started moving it back and forth and cooing. Bless her sick little heart, it was the cutest thing.
- The most exciting thing Emma Claire can do now is follow simple directions. She started doing this a few weeks ago and is getting better and better at doing things we ask her. The first time she did this, one of her socks fell off so I asked her to go get it. I was totally not expecting her to go find the sock, but she DID! Now she will bring us specific toys if we ask. When we say "Emma Claire can you bring mommy a book?" She gets SO excited and will run to her basket of books to bring us one.
- Speaking of books, one of my favorite "tricks" of hers lately is when she brings me a book she will set it down in front of me and then turn around and back up and sit in my lap for me to read to her. AH-DORABLE. I love it.
- She loves playing patty cake and will clap her hands the second I start singing. We also say "roll out the cake" {I know it makes no sense but she loves it} and she can "roll" her hands.
- The other day I randomly started singing the ABCs to her and she looked at me and then went over to her activity table and pressed the button that sings the ABCs. Then started dancing. Such a smarty pants.
- She has had two busted lips and numerous bruises on her head from falling. Walking is tough, folks.
- Right now she has two eye teeth in and the other two are riiiiight there. one of her molars has popped through but isn't in all the way.
- It doesn't happen often but she can blow kisses. I love it.
- She can wave bye bye almost on command.
- Most of the time if I wave or say "hi" to someone she will follow my lead and wave and say "HI!". Sometimes she will do it first, especially if she sees a group of big kids.
- She knows where her hair is and if you say, "Emma Claire, where is your hair?" she will pull on it.
- When we were all done visiting Santa at the mall we were letting her run around and she was walking past all of the restaurants and signed "Eat" for the first time. I'm pretty sure all of the people watching us thought I was crazy because I started flipping out telling the hubs, "She signed eat, she signed eat!!!" In a VERY loud and high pitch voice.
- When it's time to end her bath I say, "Are you ready to get out?" And she will pull the plug and drain the water. Yep, genius child ;-)
- She can also say "shhhh" and will put her finger up to her mouth whenever the dogs bark.
This age is just SO FUN. She is learning more and more each day and is so fun to interact with. I know I say this during each "stage" but this one is the best so far.
